Summer sports
The sports and holiday complex has a wide range of leisure activities for the summer on offer for its guests. And that’s hardly surprising, as it’s during the summer that the myriad delights are revealed, which draw people back to the mountains year after year.
Sightseeing tours
The tour of the Mountain Carousel, the first of the Olympic facilities to be delivered, involves an ascent to a height of 1,500 metres on a comfortable ropeway manufactured by French producer Poma and includes a visit to a viewing platform overlooking Achishkho Ridge and Krasnaya Polyana. The traditional Krasnaya Polyana tea ceremony, with a chance to taste tea made from alpine plants and locally-produced honey, is a particular hit with visitors.
Mountain biking
If you are a fan of mountain biking, then real mountains with mind-blowing descents down roads and paths running through the forest and alpine zones will be just what you have always wanted. No special traiing is required - all you need is to be able to ride a bike.
Walking tours
A trek through the mountains will take you on a journey passing along mountainsides, ridges and glaciers, through mountain passes and across mountain streams. The routes for the walking tours vary in distance and difficulty. The trekking programmes are aimed specially at visitors who are looking for something really different. Fans of hiking in the great outdoors are taken on a ski-lift up to a height of 1,500 metres and then, accompanied by a trained guide, walk along specially laid out trails to take a look at Krasnaya Polyana’s natural sights – the Bliznetsy (Gemini) waterfall, Chyornaya Piramida (Black Pyramid) peak and a whole host of other attractions.
Pony-trekking
Modern scientists believe that pony trekking is a great emotional boost and a way of discharging psychological stress. As French academic Professor Lallerie has said, “Going for a ride on a horse gives one a sense of being independent and allows one to adapt oneself to circumstances in isolation, while at the same time discovering that life can be enjoyable and more than just stress and suffering”.
